This passage from Habukkuk is lovely. There is just no other word that comes to mind for me. The trouble in Habukkuk has a poetic ring to me, but I'm sure that if I were in that time and place, it wouldn't sound quite so nice. The troubles of my day (and yours?) aren't nearly as poetic, are they? Sometimes, the headings of passages direct my entire understanding of them. In the NRSV version, these verses are headed Trust and Joy in the Midst of Trouble. Our troubles are different, to be sure, but the source of our joy and the One whom we trust? Just the same. God is the enduring truth in times of trouble. Share today the ways in which He's been trustworthy in your life.
